A music video, “Welcome to the A,” created by and starring students from Ron Clark Academy has been breaking the internet. The song features Ludacris and namedrops many iconic landmarks around downtown Atlanta.
The students mentioned locations like Atlantic Station, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Georgia Aquarium, Piedmont Park, the CNN building, The Fox Theatre, The Civil Rights Museum, State Farm Arena, The Varsity, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Ponce City, Hartsfield-Jackson airport, and more.
The video even featured a quick appearance by Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms. The music video was released the weekend before Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, which will see millions of people descend on the area to experience the Big Game.
Who are the kids in the video?
The students in the video attend The Ron Clark Academy, which is “a model school with a vision to transform classrooms around the world by demonstrating transformative methods and techniques that are embraced and replicated everywhere,” according to the school website.
The school has been privately funded by partnerships with Oprah Winfrey, Coke, Verizon, Delta, Georgia Power, and others. Kids attend from grades 5 through 8 — Ron Clark Academy will be adding 4th grade next school year — and many students attend via scholarship.
