Mary Norwood finally concedes Atlanta mayor’s race to Keisha Lance Bottoms

Mary Norwood has finally thrown in the towel. After refusing to concede the Atlanta mayor’s race to Keisha Lance Bottoms and insisting upon a recount, Norwood decided Wednesday evening, Dec. 20, that she would no longer contest the election results.

Norwood said that although she felt that there were some “irregularities” during the election process, that she decided that it was time to move on.

Bottoms beat Norwood on Tue. Dec., 5 in the election runoff by less than 1 percent. The election results were certified on Saturday, which made Bottom’s victory official. Still, Norwood refused to concede and insisted upon a recount.

After the recount was completed, Norwood gained an additional five votes in Fulton County, while Bottoms dropped six votes. In DeKalb County, the count remained the same.

The final vote tally showed Bottoms with 46,661, and Norwood with 45,840.
